After dedicating 31 years to education, I began to feel that the walls of the classroom were no longer where I was meant to be. As a Citywide Reading Coach, I had the privilege of overseeing reading programs for 44 schools, traveling daily to provide support and seeing the transformative impact of my work on students’ reading scores. My efforts were recognized nationally, and I had the honor of sharing these successes across the country. When that position was closed, I returned to the classroom, but it became clear that my calling was leading me elsewhere. Taking early retirement, I founded MLP Professional Education & Development, LLC, using my decades of experience to mentor and coach teachers and expand into other meaningful work that empowers others.
Through this new chapter, I became a Health Advocate and Coach, helping individuals lead healthier lives while also assisting seniors with Medicare services. I created programs like Finding Your Fit to support educators transitioning out of teaching, and I launched initiatives like the Zambia Women’s Empowerment Group to provide tools and resources for women abroad. My own journey through breast cancer inspired me to write a book—a journal and devotional to encourage others navigating their own challenges. Today, I continue to build this mission with a heart for service, combining my passion for teaching, coaching, and faith to create lasting impact for those I serve.
